NHL Announces It Won't Participate In 2018 Olympics 

The biggest event on hockey’s international calendar, and one of the biggest events of every winter games, will not happen next year. The news disappoints players, who want to play, and fans, who want them to play. But it makes owners happy! The NHL will not participate in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, and the reason is, of course, money. The Olympics are less than 11 months away, and the NHL is following through on the threat it’s been making for a long time, so I guess this isn’t a huge surprise. It still really, really sucks, though.
