Bitesize Prediction: Rochdale vs Maidenhead – 23/03/24

Market: Rochdale win

Odds: 11/10 @

Looking to make it three National League victories on the bounce, Rochdale will welcome Maidenhead to the Spotland Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Rochdale might have opened up the 2023/24 campaign with their sights set on securing an immediate League Two return, Kimmy McNulty’s men face a real uphill battle in their bid to clinch a play-off spot. However, despite opening this weekend’s fixtures sat eight points adrift of the top-seven, the Blues do appear to have turned a recent corner. Last seen putting in a rampant performance as they stormed their way to a 4-1 romp away at Eastleigh, the Manchester-based outfit have collected consecutive National League victories for the first time since the end of November. Likewise, mustering seven points from their last three appearances, Rochdale have also found a recent clinical edge in the final third. Notching eight goals on their three-match unbeaten run, Saturday’s hosts should be smelling a potential opportunity here. It should also be highlighted, McNulty’s side have lost just a pair of their previous eight contests at the Scotland Stadium.

As for the visitors, making an immediate return to losing ways last weekend, Maidenhead are once again at the heart of a National League relegation scrap. Eventually slumping to a 4-1 drumming at the hands of Dagenham Redbridge, Alan Devonshire’s men should face another stern challenge when they travel to Manchester here. Opening March with another 4-1 defeat against AFC Fylde, it is no surprise that the Magpies have continued to show some glaring issues at the back. Along with shipping 10 goals in their previous three appearances, Maidenhead have failed to muster a single clean sheet since back on February 6th. Losing six of their last eight National League contests, they have also collected just three points from their previous five contests away from York Road. Likewise, suffering back-to-back defeats on their travels by an aggregate score of 8-2, we are predicting a home victory for the play-off outsiders here.
